Who we are
Path2Adviser is an online revision platform providing mock examinations and study resources for CII financial adviser qualifications (R01–R05 and CF6). References to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy refer to Path2Adviser.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at info@path2adviser.co.uk.
What data we collect
When you use Path2Adviser we may collect the following:
- Email address and first name — provided when you subscribe, download a free resource, or use the pass calculator. Used to manage your account, deliver what you requested, and (with your consent) send study tips.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Exam and study data — your mock exam scores, results and (in the pass calculator) your chosen exam and exam date. Used to show your progress and improve the platform.
- Usage and technical data — pages visited, time on site, browser type, device and IP address, collected automatically via privacy-friendly server-log analytics.
Our lawful bases for processing
Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Contract — to provide your subscription, process payments and deliver the exam content you have paid for.
- Consent — to send you marketing and study-tip emails, and to deliver free resources you request. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to maintain, secure and improve the platform, and to understand how it is used.
- Legal obligation — to keep records we are required to keep (for example, for tax).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for third-party advertising.
Marketing emails
If you download a free resource or opt in, we may send you occasional study tips and updates using MailerLite as our email provider. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or emailing us. We only send these emails on the basis of your consent.
Third parties who process your data
We use a small number of trusted providers ("processors") to run the platform. Each processes your data only on our instructions and under their own privacy safeguards:
- Stripe — payment processing. You are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout; we never store card details.
- MailerLite — stores your email and first name to deliver resources and study emails.
- Supabase — securely stores your mock exam results so you can track progress.
- Tawk.to — powers our live chat. If you use the chat, it processes your messages and sets cookies (see below).
- Netlify — hosts the website and provides privacy-friendly, log-based analytics that do not use cookies.
Cookies
Path2Adviser uses only a small number of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — set by Stripe during checkout to process payments securely, and by our login system to keep you signed in.
- Live chat — if you interact with our Tawk.to chat widget, it sets cookies to remember your conversation. These are only used to make the chat work.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Our website analytics are log-based and do not set cookies. Your exam progress is also stored locally in your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the chat and checkout may not work fully without them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict how we use your data
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email info@path2adviser.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your subscription is active and for up to 12 months after cancellation, unless you request earlier deletion. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Records we must keep by law (such as payment records) are retained for the period required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
